Injured/Downed Officer Rescue (IDOR) – Rapid Response for the Street Officer When seconds matter and backup is limited, officers must be prepared to act decisively to rescue a wounded or incapacitated partner. The Injured/Downed Officer Rescue (IDOR) course is a hands-on, scenario-driven training designed to equip street-level officers with practical, time-critical rescue techniques that can be immediately applied in the field. This course focuses on simple, repeatable, and standardized methods that reduce confusion under stress and allow officers to rapidly extract injured personnel from high-risk environments—without waiting for specialized units. Students will learn and perform one-vehicle and two-vehicle rescue techniques, as well as extractions from inside vehicles, roadways, parking lots, and residential settings. Additionally, officers will train in team-based building extractions utilizing four-officer rescue elements. Instruction emphasizes real-world application, adaptability, and efficiency, ensuring officers can utilize any available vehicle and minimal personnel to accomplish the mission. Through intensive practical exercises, students will build the confidence and competence needed to respond effectively when a fellow officer’s life is on the line. This course is led by experienced law enforcement professionals with operational backgrounds in patrol, SWAT, and tactical medicine, providing students with credible, field-tested instruction. With limited class size to maximize hands-on training and instructor engagement, this course delivers a high-impact learning experience tailored for the realities of modern policing.
